Wednesday Pub Night

Postby Plastic Puller on Tue Sep 16, 2008 2:32 pm

It was decided, after extended debate, that we should return to The Caley Sample Room for at least the first half of this semester.

For those of you who are new to the club or otherwise unfamiliar with this pub you can get to it easily from campus on the 34 bus take a look below for further directions. Normal meet time is 8:30 pm but as the pub does reasonably priced food there may be some people heading down before to eat, post on the forum!

looking at the menu for the pub, while the food looks nice i would not describe it as reasonably priced (at least not for students!). I'll be heading there from campus on the 8pm bus if people want to direct random freshers to this bus/me i'll be wearing a club fleece. I'll try to swing by the stand thing tomorrow as well if i have time.

Yeah, I guess it's probably not what most students would call reasonably priced but not prohibitively expensive. There is a sample menu on the website that I didn't look at before if people want to come to their own conclusions or even better come to the pub!

Are you still going to the Caley Sample Room on Wednesday nights? (I may persuade my driver to bring me along this or next week)
Cheers

Yup, still there!

We're set here until next term, when we may consider a change of venue to reduce weekly expendiature on beer (ie. find somewhere cheaper!)

Can I recommend COSTCO then?
Cheapest beer in town, and has a seating area in store, failing that IKEA has lots of lovely furniture to try out too.

Great - glad you're not changing venue half way through the term/semester as it would have only confused a simpleton like me.

There's been talk of changing the pub venue to the Standing order, whlst they have there beer festival on!

I'm for it.

If there's consensus, we'll change it to the standing order for wed 5th and 12th November?

Nov 5th? If there's fireworks maybe we can decamp to Calton Hill with a flask or two?

Is there only the city fireworks in Meadowbank stadium? I can't find any others.

My point, is Carlton hill the best viewpoint for Meadowbank? (I've not been up there for Guy Fawkes night before)
