Alex - don't necessarily assume no snow! There was a fair bit in the mountains yesterday - no idea what conditions underfoot like or whether it will melt this week (weather forecast good). But, believe it or not, we do get snow 'so far south'!

Part of the reason I haven't requested snow gear is because I won't be there at the Edinburgh end to put it back, but if no-one's claimed the 80cm ice-axe and yellow crampons when I get there and people don't mind putting them back in the gear shed I'll take them.

Will there be just the one leaving at 6:15 or will there be an early one as well, or a bus and a mail van?
Both Helga and I need to know if we have to start and finish work early as we would really like to try and get to the hut while it is still Friday. Plus I need to know what to sign to drive.

Posted: Thu Apr 02, 2009 11:20 amthe theory atm is the 2 12 seaters, which we'll need to pick up the keys for by 4pm tomorrow. I can grab the keys for one today, but ideally i'll need a second signature for the other driver. However if we get 4 signatures on the 2 sets of paperwork then we're fine for switching drivers as we like.
Personally I think it's best to still take both 12 seaters, even if we aren't going to fill them, as it gives us more flexibility when we're down there, i.e. it's much easier to sort out a long walk with pickups at both end; we can also have half the group head in separate directions.
Anyone not agree with that??

Bus 1: I'll grab that one and get my arse to the gear shed by 1630hrs (4:30pm), looking to leave once we have 7-8 people turned up, leaving at the latest 1730hrs (5:30pm) so that we can get to Wales on Friday, as Jon put it.
Bus 2: Picked up similarly, leaving 1900hrs (7pm) latest to get to Wales at a reasonable time
