Timing of trips - Ferries

Postby StrangeSandwiches on Tue Sep 08, 2009 5:09 pm

I don't know whether we're planning a trip to Arran this year, but if we are then it's probably worth bearing in mind that CalMac only run the 20:30 (arriving 21:25) Friday night ferry from Ardrossan until the 24th of October (last ferry back on Sunday leaving 19:20, arriving 2015). I know the trip last year got shelved because it had been arranged for after they switched from their Summer to Winter timetable, and we'd have had to leave unfeasibly early to get the last ferry. This year's Summer timetable started from the 27th of March, so presumably it'll be around the same time of year that they change back next year. Can't remember offhand how many weeks of a margin that gives before the end of term. I've got the current Summer timetable if anyone wants a look at it.

Fairly certain we're not planning a trip out that way - see the website!

I know there's no Arran trip on the list for Term 1, but I thought it worth mentioning since Term 2 is currently near enough blank and therefore presumably to be decided nearer the time. There seems to be some probably interesting climbing on Cir Mhor, as well as several good Corbett-level mountain and ridges.
