Shortest night fun

Postby Plastic Puller on Thu Jun 18, 2009 2:09 pm

As the summer solstice is officially at 4.45 am on the 21st. The night between the 20th and 21st (Sat and Sun) is the shortest of the year.

I was planning on heading over to Aberdour for some climbing between tides (low at 1817, highs at 1216 and 0048) followed by some drinks and maybe a BBQ on the cliff top before heading back to wander up the Pentlands and stay up till morning.

Current weather forecast is for a dry evening.

Anyone interested?

By a bit of a coincidence I was going to head there on Saturday afternoon with some friends of mine from EUMC.

Just checcking the weather its saying patchy rain although it looks a bt brighter after mid-day. Don't know how badly Aberdour is effected by wet rock, although thinking since it's sea cliffs it'll be nice and damp already.

See you there hopefully.....

The ankle has meant no climbing for me, so I wouldn't be much cop at that right now, but I could wander up the Pentlands to stay up late. I only have to stay up til 4.45am right?

It's quite quick to dry although the wind is from the WNW tomorrow, the top outs become a bit dirty but otherwise it's ok. We're leaving Edinburgh at about 1 with my flatmate (another EUMC person) and his mate, see you there. Space in the car if there's anyone looking.

Actually the official sunrise is at 0327 so in theory you could go back then. Need to check the (night) bus times.
