Pub for semester 2

Any suggestions for the direction of our move from the Caley? We're looking for somewhere central but easy to get to from uni, with good beers, plenty of space and preferably no footy crowds clogging up the place.

I hereby suggest cloisters (admitting that it would be a little cramped)

It doesn't look hugely easy to get to from uni to me.

A little cramped? Are you mad? Sadly I have no better suggestions, but am quite willing to point out faults with other suggestions!!

Haymarket? We could check it out first before terms starts?

As in The Haymarket Bar? Despite its blindingly close proximity to my flat, it almost always has the footy on and doesn't really have a good selection of ales and such.

Any more complaints/suggestions?

Oh. Pub crawl on Wednesday?

Perhaps not an extreme pub crawl though...

One of,
The Cask and Barrel
The standing order
the chanter
think we should have a long list of pubs- the three with the least criticisms after about a week get put up as a poll?

Did we not move away from the chanter when it went mysteriously loud?

And as nice a pub as the cask is, its a similar trek from uni, especially as princes street is going to be closed as of about 4 days time until the festival

if princes st is closed (there will be ways around it on the bus) then somewhere central is even more important for those living off campus particularly in leith

A decision has been made! The new pub for the term is going to be the Cask & Barrel, with the plan that we go there after some Wednesday evening bouldering at alien 2

here the home of Alien Rock 2
and the gMAP to AR2 is here.

Are there any agreed (ish) times for bouldering and pub meeting?

cheers

Bouldering - afternoon/evening
Pub - evening/night

More precise timings to be announced, but will most likely go off what happens this week. The walk AR2 --> C&B is about 15 mins

i'll be aiming for Alien 2 from 6/6.30 and theln pub at about 9/9.30 - i'd guess some people will be getting to the wall earlier (and possibly leaving earlier)
