Tents

Postby wardka on Thu Mar 27, 2008 8:50 pm

Is anyone free to help sort out the orange vango tents at some point (put them back together,. air them a bit on a nice sunny day)

These are the best winter camping tents we have - waterproof, thick groundsheets, unbreakable poles - but not great for carrying obviously... and they're all in a heap on the floor (last I saw) slowly mouldering away.

What d'ya think? Bring to AGM maybe for group effort? (Chaplaincy booking form sent for 19th - but Tillie's away till 7th April)

re the tents - aaron is away until next week, he might be able to shed some light on just what state they are in. I'll probably be in the pub next wednesday, can chat about it then as well

we checkt them for condition and if everything is there already (two days efford!!!!). But we didn't actually build them up or aired them, so that would probably be a good idea...

Oo-err!?! "Cross-dressing" postings - you'll get us all confused!?!

I remember Jack/Robin/Some-one booking one of the sports halls to go through all the tents last year - the trouble with trying to do it at the AGM I would guess, other than the fact that the Chaplaincy is the other side of campus and Force Tens weigh a ton, is mixing this task with alcohol - I remember it being a right pain sorting these tents out, and a clear head is definitely required!

What's happened to the Quasars? Didn't we have one complete one, and another needing poles?

I'll probably be able to give a hand with it once term starts, whenever is convenient for everyone else. Don't mind lumping a couple F10s over from gear shed to Chaplaincy either, just say when the keys will be there.

That was me Mike for a general kit inventory and tidy up of the gear shed. There are still quasars around - we took two to Loch Morlich in January. Just be nice to have a few entire vangos ready to take out without messing around with them before a trip. Hmm.

A thousand apologies - you're obviously so very efficient I forgot it was you - shout about yourself some more next time!

Did this ever get done?

I know Aaron was cutting down new poles for the Terra Novas but wasn't too sure about the Vangos.

Would probably be a good idea to have a quick check of stuff before Skye. I'm knocking about a lot if a hand is needed.

I answer a bit late, but better than not at all!

First I got a job- so you have to tolerate me a bit longer...

Second: As Johanna wrote we checked the tents but with main focus on the newer tents.
Status: All new tents (terra nova/Wynnster Buzzard/black diamond) are fine, we checked if everything is there and if they have holes but didn't build them up. In two cases I repaired the poles and added new pegs.
In case of the vango we only checked them quickly if everything is there and labled them new. Following the equipment list (in the shed) we should be able to take only the usable...

I think to build them up is only necessary in case of the vango. We might be able to mix the parts new that more complete unmould/unrepaired are the outcome. I could help but not befor end of exams because I know how timeconsuming it is...
