Yes, I have signed myself up twice. Please can someone remove one of me? Thanks. I also signed Jack up, although I am not sure what he was doing in 1986.

Also, well done Alex on well and truly addressing hell out of that haggis. Job well done. I'm in charge of pudding next year!

I've just tried to sign up (twice), but the site doesn't seem to want to let me. I'll try again tomorrow, but just wanted to register interest since the official channels aren't working.

Since Katie was impressed by my treatment of the haggis, maybe I should threaten it with the Address to the Internet (undiscovered masterpiece that it isn't!). Let's see... "His finger, see office labour dight, and switch ye off with ready sleight...?" Doesn't really ring true.

Finally, the sign-up works! I'll be late over to the gear shed, my lecture doesn't finish until 5:15, can I call dibs on the kit?

What sort of pervert schedules a lecture on Friday at 4:15pm?

(S)He might as well just put the PPT on a website and not turn up.

Don't tell me, I bet one of his/her other lectures is at 9:15am on Monday morning?

(I guess doing a Lab till 5:15pm on Friday is vaguely sensible)

No, his other lecture is Tuesday 11:15. Monday 9:15 is a 3 hour lab, not a lecture. The timetablers hate Chemists.

Anyone else think it's too much of a coincidence to pass up that Liathach has nicely convenient ridges from the hut up, along, and down to Torridon, which has a hotel where we can presumably get a drink? Unfortunately nowhere in Edinburgh seems to have the Harvey's Torridon map and we're right on a 3-way corner in OS maps, so I've not been able to check routes in full, but we've got a full Saturday to work with whatever we go for.

From the Ling Hut, there's more possibilities than you can shake a stick at:

Beinn Eighe and Liathach are opposite; Beinn Allign and Beinn Dearg are down the road; There's 2 Corbetts behind the hut, and Beinn Damph down the road. Super

Wish I was fit enough to go - a couple of months to go though.

Enjoy.

Pretty sure we've got a torridon map, not that it's much use at this point though...

Aye, looks a bit blowy this weekend then - Take a rope if you're going up Liathach, or else the hut is nice and cosy!

O ye of little faith! Absolutely excellent conditions both days, made all the better by Stuart's cooking on Saturday. The only problem with the weekend was that it was so good I couldn't get any work done, but that's easily sorted now.

A bit of a late start on Saturday after Stuart cooked breakfast, then everyone pretty much went their own ways. Joseph and Alejandro walked round to Three Buttress Corrie on Beinn Eighe, up to the ridge, along a bit, and down (see them for more details); Stuart, Laura, and Katie took a stroll to the south, and got to the top of Beinn Liath Mhor (eventually); I went a similar direction at a faster pace, overtook them, and got up Beinn Liath Mhor and Sgorr Ruadh (by the scrambly way), getting back after dark; Kyle went for a climb somewhere and got back even later; I think Tom and Sarah stayed near the hut and got the generator running; and I'm not sure whether Reuben went out or worked on his project. I can't remember what Andy and Jack did that day. In the evening, Stuart cooked a delicious goulash, after a trip to the hotel pub in Kinlochewe.
On Sunday, Tom and Sarah took a traverse over Liathach; Stuart, Andy, Alejandro, Kyle, Jack, and myself went over Beinn Alligin via the Horns and the only bit of problematic ice I saw all weekend; Reuben worked on his project; and I'm not sure whether Katie, Laura, and Joseph stayed by the hut or went off somewhere. We managed a fairly early start back after all that, about 15:00, so there was the usual feeling of disappointment to be leaving a great area in great weather. Definitely two good days still to be done there without having to look too hard.
