Guests ?

Postby Kokaid on Tue Oct 23, 2007 7:20 pm

I have a question for the weekend trip organizers. My sister and her boyfriend will come by next year from Germany to visit me and I think they would like to do some hill climbing too, so i wondered if it is possible to bring guests on to the weekend trips ? Is it ? :)

Regards, Felix

Don't know what the other committee members think, but I would say it depends on what trip, where to, what experience they have, what the weather will be like and how many other club members want to go (i.e. if twenty club members want to go then it would be unfair to take up space on the minibus with non-members)

email the club inbox with some info (as above) and we can see. There is a serious issue of insurance - they would have to look into that (you can get specific insurance for things like that for relatively cheap).

In principal I'm not against the possibility, but club members probably should get preference....

Let us know the details for now and stephen, reuben, florian or I will get back to you.

P.S. THANKS FOR USING THE FORUM!!!

Doesn't everybody that is transported by Minibus have to be a member of our Sports Union (for insurance purposes)?

Also there is the small matter of liability insurance that the club has by being a member of MCofS - I think this is there to protect the club from being sued in the event of an accident occurring that involves club members and non-club members? I'm not fully up to speed on this one.

not sure how your minibuses work insurance wise but it would be worth insisting that everybody on a trip was a member of the MCofS or BMC as a minimum for insurance purposes, travel insurance would be a bonus (but since i don’t currently have a policy i can’t really talk)

The Sports Union would be the ultimate arbiter of you can/cannot go in the bus, I guess.
