CIC Hut Renovations - anyone been up to the north face?

just saw the picture in the SMC journal. found a few pics online:

it's doubled in size, but still sleeps 18. apparently additions include a bigger kitchen, new drying room, and Toilets.

to be honest I don't think any of this was necessary. they'd be better off spending the money on a new turbine.

they didn't replace the old turbine yet???
so how do you use the kitchen then?

I'm pretty sure everything is gas powered now.

can i not see a wind turbine in one of the photos? or was it a much bigger one that blew away?

I believe they now have a wee hydroelectric scheme which powers the heaters to stop the septic tank from freezing. Not sure if that also powers lights in the hut, but I suspect so. Previously the wind turbine only powered lights and sent excess power to heaters, although there were some inverters for other appliances.
They had to do some building work, as they really needed a toilet.
